ABOUT THE MOVIE

Runtime:

115 min

A young cook Varya decides to run away from a small Ukrainian town to prove she deserves to be the chef of a prestigious European restaurant. After a series of unsuccessful tries, Varvara adds to her resume the experience of work in a highend restaurant in Kyiv and gets the position of a sous chef! Meantime she finds an old cookbook by Olga Franko – a female chef and activist, forbidden in Soviet times, which changes her attitude to her own culinary traditions. A phantom of Olga Franko appears in Varvara’s life at the most important moments to warn her against mistakes. Now she faces a question- is a high restaurant career what she really needs or does she have to revive Ukrainian food authenticity to stay true to herself?
